Going Social in ‘09

One of my resolutions for 2009 is to be more social both in person and on the web. Atlanta has such a great atmosphere for young, independent developers/entrepreneurs/tech fanatics, and I feel like I’m really missing out if I don’t start taking advantage of that. To carve out my own space, I’m making it a priority to attend things like AJUG, Startup Riot, Startup Weekend, etc. - these events are perfect opportunities for young developers/entrepreneurs to really step up and separate themselves.

What’s the second part? It’s not just business cards anymore - in 2009 no tech geek would be able to network without these tools:

  • Twitter: Check
  • LinkedIn: Check
  • Blog: Check (you’re reading it)
  • Facebook: Check
Going social isn’t just about having all your web properties staked out, though. It’s about interacting and getting your voice and ideas out there and getting recognized in the virtual space. That’s the second and main part of this new year’s resolution: 2009 will be my year to start working on projects, pursuing ideas, and making connections that will build a foundation and carry me on to bigger and better things. Oh, and keeping my blog updated wouldn’t be such a bad thing either :)
How are you improving and pursuing your social agenda in 2009?
